FAQs for your reference.
Is the virus currently present in the US or Canada?
Yes, in limited numbers. According to the CDC, the first confirmed instance of person-to-person spread in the U.S. was reported on January 30, 2020. For more information, you can reference the current US and Canada case count of infection with COVID-19 at any time.
Should I wear a facemask?
The CDC does not currently recommend the use of face masks among the general public.
Can I contract the virus from surfaces or packages?
It is unlikely you will catch the virus from packages or surfaces. According to the CDC, because of poor survivability of coronaviruses on surfaces, there is very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures. Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread most often by respiratory droplets. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of the virus associated with imported goods and there have not been any cases in the United States associated with imported goods.
How can I protect myself?
The best way to protect yourself is to follow the CDC’s recommendations for preventing the spread of respiratory viruses, including:
o Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol if soap and water are not available.
o Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
o Avoid close contact (defined as within six feet) with people who are sick.
o Stay home when you are sick.
o Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue then throw the tissue in the trash.
o Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects or surfaces.
What if I start to experience symptoms?
Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you begin feeling symptoms. Symptoms may include fever, cough and shortness of breath.
I don’t feel comfortable coming to the office. Can I work from home until this is no longer a concern?
Please work with your manager to find a solution that addresses your concerns while allowing for business continuity.
Will extra cleaning supplies be available to associates (hand sanitizer, facial tissues, etc.)?
As this is a rapidly evolving situation, we are continuing to monitor it closely. Currently there is no plan to provide additional cleaning supplies, but we will update associates should this change. Our facilities team is working with cleaning crews to ensure cleaning standards are upheld in all locations.
I’d like a facemask. Where can I obtain one?
Currently, we are only supplying facemasks to our associates on the front lines (e.g. delivery drivers to hospitals). Please speak with your manager to determine the best course of action for your health and wellness.
A member of my team is sick. What guidance can you offer?
Those who believe they may have been exposed to the coronavirus should contact their healthcare provider immediately. Please encourage all team members to follow the recommendations above for protecting themselves and others from the spread of illness.
